A Community Website for Whitchurch, Hampshire
We bid for this project alongside 3 other local web design companies. The brief was to create a new town website for visitors, community members and local businesses and, being firm believers in the importance of community and small business ourselves, we thought we could do something really special. The Whitchurch Association and local community liked our ideas and chose us over the competition, to build this exciting website.
If we had to list every special feature of this site the list below would run off the page, so here's a few of the best:
- Multiple user levels, creating a truly community run website and allowing businesses and groups control over their own page and listing.
- A dynamic section that facilitates Whitchurch LETS (Local Exchange Trading System) which has helped start and organise the new Whitchurch community trading scheme, featuring offered and wanted adverts and an online payment system for the LETS currency (Threads). whitchurch.org.uk/your-community/whitchurch-lets »
- A comprehensive local business directory.
- A news blog with regular new articles written by different volunteers.
- An events calendar and upcoming events list, allowing organisers to advertise events and regular groups.
- A 360 degree virtual tour of the town incorporating many different view points and local business information.

We're very pleased to say that the website is now considered a valuable resource by the wider community.
